Going Wilder

Maddie's hair is finally getting longer, and i can't help noticing her resemblance... ok, her hair's resemblance to Gene Wilder's in Young Frankenstein. She's already got the mad scientist laugh down, and we'll work on her pronunciation of "Fronkensteen", so it looks like we already have next year's Halloween costume picked out.

Growing Pains

Madeline is starting daycare this week, which means that for the first time in almost two years I will have hours and hours of time to do whatever I want. But all I want is to just keep her home with ME. I just can't believe that these last two years have come and gone so fast. She's only in daycare now, but soon she'll be in school, and then a teenager, and then a grown-up!!

No... it's going to be great. I am going to be able to finish my last few courses of my degree, work a lot, clean my room, and take regular showers. And she is going to make friends her own age, eat healthy catered lunches, play with exciting new toys, and learn so many neat things.

I've had this little babe nearly all to myself for so long-- but I guess eventually we both need to learn to share.

Mads World

It kills me how every time we visit Penny Arcade, Madeline runs to our little section and starts pulling things down. Sometimes she will carry around a little shirt or dress on its hanger and babble away to customers in a kind of incoherent yet adorable sales pitch. She is with me for so much of the picking, cleaning, and repair-work of the items that I like to think she's a little proud of it. Or maybe, as our friend Bridgette always says, "She just loves shopping and fashion!"

Mads posing by the wardrobe, holding an empty Coke bottle (I don't let her drink Coke, I swear)

♥ this babe.
